Spring 2013 Fashion Trends For The Home

Although we’re well on our way into the fall season, just last week was New York Fashion Week, and we have some of our favorite trends for Spring 2013 ready for your wardrobe and your home! Interior trends typically follow fashion trends, so check out what the next big looks are sure to be along with our tips on how to incorporate them into your home.

One of the biggest trends for next spring is the use of muted floral patterns. This pretty floral pillow and three door chest would be a great way to tie this feminine trend in with your home!

Another popular style choice was to go sporty. Our convertible Klick Klack with contrast white stitching and red swivel chair combine sporty mobility with a polished look.

The tangerine trend isn’t going anywhere, and this vibrant hue is easy to work in with a few fun textile pieces, such as these eye-catching pillows!

Leather is a loved option for dresses, pants, skirts, sofas, and chairs. We suggest buying your upholstered pieces in leather, such as the Sullivan Collection and L4050 Steel Leather Sofa, for a sleek, classic look you’ll love.

We just recently blogged about using metallic items in your home, and this just happened to be one of the big trends for spring as well! A little silver and gold will not only look great in your closet, but also mixed into your home furnishings with items such as the glamorous silver bedroom chest or metallic jewelry armoire.

The last big trend we loved for Spring 2013 was the use of funky, digitally-inspired prints. These eclectic patterns were seen all over the runway and can be easily mixed in with your decor without being too showy. The pixel patterned rug is a great example of using a digital print in neutral colors for a fashion-forward look that is still understated and sophisticated, and the black nailhead accent chest shows that pattern isn’t just for textiles – it works well on case pieces too!

What Spring 2013 trends to do you want in your wardrobe and home?

Terrific Trunks For Your Home

We love using trunks as part of our decor and think they’re a great way to combine style and storage.  Whether you use a trunk in a bedroom, entryway, bathroom, or foyer, they’ll add a unique look to a room and are a fun alternative to a typical table you’d ordinarily see.  Here are some inspiring photos of different ways trunks are used in various homes, as well as some of our trunks that would work great in yours!

Why settle for one trunk when you can have two?

A tall trunk can make a great dry bar and a fantastic place to hide away those pricey bottles of wine you’re saving.

The dark wood of the trunk looks great against the mostly light decor of this stunning space.

A trunk at the end of the bed is a perfect for storing linens and giving yourself a place to sit when you’re putting on your shoes!

This Reclaimed Castle Treasure Box would look amazing in both a traditional home or with a more modern interior.

A vintage trunk is perfect for any space that needs some extra storage or a surface for displays.

This rustic storage chest gives the neutral room some depth and makes it look homey and warm.

Elegant chairs, a metallic modern sofa, graphic prints, and a stylish chest combine to make this room unforgettable.

A trunk makes a pretty nightstand, especially in a soft, creamy hue.

This Postal Stamp Storage Trunk is an adorable take on a traditional storage chest.

A trunk works well as a side table too, and the contrast of the rustic trunk with the modern chair and sofa makes it especially interesting.

This proves that you don’t have to choose between a console table and a trunk – you can have both!

This Jaipur Trunk from Furniture Connexion mixes in well with any style of home decor.

Punchy Prints and Pattern Play

Nothing adds pizzazz to an interior like some fun, punchy prints and patterns.  Don’t let bold prints scare you – they can add life and energy to a room, especially if the room is pretty neutral otherwise.  Here are some inspiring photos of fun ways to sneak pattern into your decor, as well as a few of our favorite patterned pieces from the Furniture Connexion.

Desert Home Design

The crazy heat wave we have been experiencing has made us all feel as though we’re in the middle of a desert – not the Pacific Northwest!  However, since we’re always thinking of design, thoughts of the desert lead us to thoughts of the homes there. Whether they have a rustic and warm appeal in the high desert , or a midcentury modern vibe in a desert oasis, desert homes often seem to be among the most stylish with their floor to ceiling windows, architectural details, and beautiful surrounding scenery.  Below are a some inspirational photos of a couple different directions you can go to achieve a stylish desert home, as well as suggested items from the Furniture Connexion to give your home a similar look.

The items below combine to create the perfect combination of rustic charm with a modern sensibility, ideal for a home in the high desert to create a look similar to the ones shown above.

These photos have a fun, retro vibe that makes us yearn for a trip to Palm Springs!

Combine vibrant colors, modern shapes, and bright white upholstery for a fun and youthful desert oasis style!

Do you prefer a more rustic high desert style, or a retro desert oasis vibe for your home?

Everything’s Coming Up Roses

Maybe it’s the springtime (and now almost summer!) weather, but it seems that there are flowers blooming everywhere – and not just outside.  Working a floral element into your home is a great way to give it a feminine touch that can range from girly and sweet to modern and sophisticated.  Look below to see some of my favorite images of floral interiors and decor.

Floral wallpaper is a great way to make a big blossoming impact!

The Jackson Floral Graffiti Chair, available at Furniture Connexion, is my personal favorite with its graphic floral print in fun, bold colors.

Such beautiful rugs and fantastic way to dress up a room!

This pillow is lovely with its unique blooming design – if only it had a rose’s scent as well!

For comfort AND style, the Zoe Floral Chair is perfect with it’s double-cushioned back and bold floral print.

This is a great example of showing how you can incorporate floral features without having them too girly.  A rose-printed wallpaper in shades of gray seems understated and sophisticated, especially when paired with such clean lines and simple bedding.
